Man is rushed to hospital after vicious attack in West Lothian park

A 33-year-man was hospitalised at the weekend following a vicious attack by two other men.

Detectives are appealing for information after a 33-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Bathgate on Saturday.

At around 6pm, the victim was in Meadowpark public park when he was approached by two men, who entered the park at the entrance on Meadowpark Avenue who threatened him then seriously assaulted him.

He was taken by ambulance to St John’s Hospital where he is being treated for lacerations and hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

The first suspect is described as white, aged 20 to 30 years old, around 5’7” in height and of large build with a beard. He was wearing a blue hooded top.

The second suspect is described as white, aged 20 to 30 years, around 5ft 5” in height and of slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded top and grey jogging trousers.

Detective Constable David McDougall said: “Our enquiries are continuing to trace the two men who are responsible for this attack.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time who witnessed this incident take place, or who has any information that may assist our investigation to contact officers through 101 with reference 2928 of 3 September. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
