Man injured in shopping centre assault: police

A 22-year-old man was hurt in an assault at the South.Point shopping centre in Tuggeranong on Wednesday, police say.

ACT Policing is now seeking witnesses to the incident, during which the Isabella Plains man suffered minor injuries to his face and hand.

Police said officers responded to the incident, which also involved another man in his 20s, outside the Rebel Sport store on the ground floor of the Greenway mall about 11.45am on Wednesday.

"Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the altercation, or who may have been in the area at the time and has information," ACT Policing said in a statement on Saturday morning.

Anyone with information that could assist police was urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.

Information can be provided anonymously, quoting reference number 6831170.
