Man injured in midnight weapon attack in Wirral park

A man was attacked with a weapon as he walked home through a Merseyside park.

The 25-year-old was approached by a group of men in Central Park, Liscard, at around midnight on Saturday.

Near to the pond, the gang was immediately aggressive towards him before one of the males assaulted him with an unknown weapon.

It left him with an injury to his abdomen.

It is not believed to be life-threatening.

The victim went home after the attack, but then presented himself to Arrowe Park Hospital for treatment.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said the motive for the assault is not clear and officers are appealing for witnesses or more information.

CCTV enquiries are also being carried out in the local area.
