Man injured in horrific bottle attack while walking with family in East Kilbride

Police are appealing for information following a serious assault in East Kilbride.

The incident happened around 2.10am on Sunday (June 21) when a 37-year-old man was walking along Cedar Drive with his family when a man struck him over the head with a glass bottle.

The suspect then ran towards Greenhills Sports Centre.

The suspect is described by police as 5ft 11ins tall, early 20s, sallow skin and of medium build. He was wearing a black top with the hood up.

Detective Constable Gareth Laird, of Lanarkshire CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone with any information which may help with our enquiries and who has not already spoken to us to get in touch.

“We would also like to hear from anyone with dash cam footage who was in the area at the time or who may have seen the victim or the suspect prior to or after the incident to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 1669 of 21 June, 2020.
