Man injured in early morning hammer attack in Belfast

Police are hunting two men after an early morning hammer attack in West Belfast.

At around 12.45am, two men entered a house on Ross Road in Divis and attacked the man inside.

He suffered injuries to his face and torso.

A PSNI spokesman said: "A woman who was also present in the property at the time was not injured, however she was left very shocked by the incident.

"Detective Sergeant Corrigan would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area at the time to contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 55 30/05/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
