Police are appealing for information following an assault in the early hours of Saturday in Newport .
A man was injured in the assault that happened at 4am near High Street. A second man was arrested and remains in police custody.
The underpass in Newport city centre, near High Street and the bus station, remained cordoned off by police at 9am and passers-by were redirected from the area.
A Gwent Police spokesman said the force were not looking for anyone else in connection with the assault.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or make contact through social media quoting incident number 92 of August 17.
