Teen injured during 'unprovoked knife attack' in Lockleaze

A teenager was knifed in an unprovoked attack in north Bristol in the early hours of this morning (October 18), police believe.

Gainsborough Square in Lockleaze has been cordoned off while officers inspect the scene today .

Police say a man, 19, has been arrested on suspicion of wounding after initial enquiries suggest a 17-year-old received knife injuries to his arm and collar bone which required hospital treatment.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a disturbance between a group of men in the Gainsborough Square area of Lockleaze this morning shortly after midnight.

We are reporting updates on this incident here.

"The group had dispersed when police officers arrived.

"Initial enquires suggest that the victim was subject to an unprovoked attack. He suffered injuries to his arm and collar bone - believed to have been caused by a knife - which required hospital treatment.

"Shortly afterwards the suspect was arrested on suspicion of wounding.

"He remains in police custody.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have information to help our enquiries.
