A man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance after he was reportedly hit by a piece of falling masonry in central London.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Coventry Street and Whitcomb Street, just off Leicester Square, earlier today.
A 57-year-old man was injured and received treatment at the scene outside the Pret a Manger, which is on the corner of the street.
He was then airlifted to hospital, but the severity of his injuries is not yet known.
Police have urged members of the public to avoid the area.
An eyewitness said there was "horrific screaming and everyone started running away".
"I saw someone with blood everywhere, they had been hit by something."
The eye witness said it looked as though work was going on at the building.
