A man has been injured and left suffering from shock after his house was struck by lightning during a night of storms.

Fire crews were called to the property in Sunk Island, Hull, at 8.30pm last night following huge flashes of thunder and lightning sweeping the region.

A lightning fork struck the man's house and sent debris flying everywhere, some of which hit him, reports Hull Live.

Humberside Fire and Rescue, who attended the incident, said: “House struck by lightning causing flying debris to injure one adult male.

“Fire Service administered oxygen therapy to casualty who was suffering from shock and cut to arm. Inspection of house carried out - no sign of fire.”
