Man injured and 'severely shaken' after being robbed at knifepoint in Bellshill

Police in Bellshill are asking for help after a 33-year-old man was injured and robbed at knifepoint.

The incident happened in the town’s Coltness Drive area around 2am on Thursday morning and left the man “severely shaken”.

Specialist officers say the man was attacked by another carrying a knife and has his wallet taken from him - this was later retrieved.

Detective Constable Lindsey McIntyre told Lanarkshire Live : “This appears to have been an opportunist attack and the man has been left severely shaken and with an injury to his head and face.

“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and it is vital we trace the individual responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the attack, or seen anything out of place, to please get in touch.”

The suspect is described as being in his early 20s, of slim build with short dark hair.

At the time of the incident, he was said to be wearing a light coloured t-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, Information can also be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
