Man injured after woman brandishes a knife in Nottinghamshire car

A man suffered an injury to his hand after a woman is reported to have brandished a knife in car.

The man told police officers he was arguing with a woman in a car when she pulled out the knife in Stanley Road, Mansfield, just before 11am yesterday (July 14).

After the knife was brandished, a struggle took place and the man managed to get the weapon.

However, he suffered a minor hand injury in the process.

Police have since arrested a 67-year-old woman on suspicion of affray and possessing a blade. She has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Inspector Georgina Ball, of Nottinghamshire Police, said the people involved were known to each other and that there was no wider threat to the public.

She added: "Knife crime has no place on our streets and we will always thoroughly investigate reports with a view to taking action against those responsible.

“Whenever a knife is involved, there is always a chance for serious consequences – thankfully in this case, the victim suffered very minor injuries but we are taking this report seriously.

“This attack happened in broad daylight and we are keen for anyone who may have witnessed what happened to come forward with any information.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident 215 of July 14.
