Man injured after six car crash on Glasgow M8 as cops hunt driver who fled

A man has been injured after a six car smash on the M8 in Glasgow with cops searching for a motorist who left the scene.

Emergency services were called to Junction 16 on the westbound carriageway shortly before 10pm on Thursday, May 28, after the vehicles collided.

Officers believe a brown or orange coloured Vauxhall Mokka SUV type car was involved but failed to stop.

Investigators are appealing for the driver to come forward while asking members of the public for any relevant dash cam footage.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.50pm, police received a report of a road traffic collision involving six cars on the M8 westbound carriageway near to junction 16.

“A Vauxhall Mokka SUV type vehicle was also involved but failed to stop and drove off up the M8 coming off at junction 16.

“Emergency services attended and one man reported being injured. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident.

“Officers are keen to trace the driver of the orange or brown coloured Vauxhall Mokka, as the driver may have information which could assist in the investigation.

“Officers are also appealing for any other motorists who were on the motorway around the time of the incident who may have seen anything to contact them.

“In particular, anyone with a dash cam is asked to check their footage as they could have captured images which could assist police enquiries.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Road Policing officers at Govan on 101, quoting incident number 3744 of 26 May 2021.”
