Man injured after balcony fall from Sydney youth hostel

Paramedics treat a man who fell from a balcony at the Sydney Harbour YHA.

Police believe a man in his 20s, who fell from a third floor balcony, was intoxicated when he lost his balance and fell over the balustrade at a hostel in Sydney last night.

Emergency services were called to the Sydney Harbour YHA on Cumberland Street at The Rocks, just after midnight.

The Australian man, who is understood to have been staying the night, was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

He is currently being treated in the intensive care unit.

The incident is not believed to be suspicious and police have put it down to misadventure.
