Man in window sill stand off with police arrested after negotiator brought in

A 40-year-old man was arrested after police were called out to a "domestic incident" in Kirkdale.

A police negotiator was sent to Sharpville Close off Lambeth Road at around 12.10pm today ( Tuesday) following reports that a man was on the window sill of a house.

A section of Lambeth Road between the junctions with Stanley Road and Maregreen Road was closed by police while they dealt with the scene in nearby Sharpeville Close.

Merseyside Police confirmed to the ECHO the incident has now been stood down and a 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.

Earlier this evening pictures showed a number of police vehicles at the scene and a section of road cordoned off.

Police were focusing their attention in an estate, and later confirmed it was a domestic incident.

A man was then said to have made his was on to a window sill and was in stand off with police at the scene.

No injuries have been reported by Merseyside Police.

Travel monitor Inrix stated: "Lambeth Road in both directions closed due to police incident between A567 Stanley Road and Westminster Road. Traffic is coping well.

"The road remains closed, having been shut since 14:20. Buses are diverting along Fountains Road in both directions."

All roads have now been reopened.
