Man in wheelchair stabbed in 'cowardly attack' outside shop

A man who was in a wheelchair was stabbed in the arm following an argument.

At around 8.30pm on Thursday, November 11, there was a verbal altercation between two men outside The Off Licence near to the junction of Townsend Lane and Lower Breck Road in Anfield.

The man then returned and stabbed the 46-year-old victim, who was in a wheelchair, in the arm and then rode off on his bike.

Police called the attack "callous" and "cowardly".

Detectives have now issued CCTV images of a man who could assist with their enquiries following the stabbing and asking anyone who might recognise him to come forward.

Detective Inspector Ben Dyer said: “This is a callous and cowardly attack to a vulnerable person.

"I am appealing to the person featured in these images, or anyone who recognises him to come forward.

"We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.

“This incident took place at the junction of Townsend Lane and Lower Breck Road in the evening of Thursday, November 11, so if you were in the vicinity at the time of the incident and saw anything, then please let us know.”
