Man in stable condition in hospital after Moss Side shooting

A man is in a stable condition in hospital after being shot in Moss Side.

Detectives launched an investigation after being called to a shooting on Roseberry Street at around 8.20pm last night (Monday).

A 20-year-old man turned up at hospital with gunshot wounds.

He underwent surgery and is now in a stable condition, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said this morning.

A large police cordon was in place on Rosebury Street at the junctions with Greame Street and Alison Street last night.

Armed police and a crime scene investigation unit were also at the scene.

An eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News he heard three gunshots on Monday evening.

In a statement issued last night, a GMP spokesperson said: "At about 8.20pm today (5 July), officers were called to Rosebery Street, Moss Side, to reports of a shooting.

"A 20-year-old man self-presented at hospital with gunshot wounds and is undergoing surgery.

"There is a scene in place in and around Rosebery Street and there are road closures in place.

"Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made."
