Man in 'serious' condition in hospital after Parklife festival stabbing

A man is in a "serious" condition in hospital after being stabbed at Parklife festival.

The incident is believed to have happened at 6:30pm on Sunday night at Heaton Park in Manchester.

The Manchester Evening News understands a man approached security having suffered a knife wound to his leg.

Security then alerted police, with staff informing officers where they believed the attack to have happened, having previously spotted a fight occurring.

The man was taken to hospital and remains there in a 'serious but stable' condition on Monday.

An investigation has now been launched with detectives said to be following a number of lines of enquiry.

A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokeswoman said: "Officers were called just after 6.30pm last night (12 September 2021) by security staff at Parklife to a report of a stabbing.

"A 22-year-old man suffered a leg injury and was taken to hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.

"Detectives launched an investigation and a number of lines of enquiry are being followed up.

"Anyone with information or anyone with any footage is asked to report it online or by using our LiveChat service at www.gmp.police.uk.

"Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Around 160,000 people attended across the two days of this year's festival, which was held for the first time in two years due to the pandemic.
