A 39-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked in Renton on Saturday.
The incident happened on Main Street at around 9.45pm with emergency services racing to the scene.
The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and treated for a head injury. His condition has been described by hospital staff as serious but stable.
Meanwhile police are appealing for information in particular details of the man believed to be responsible who is described as being tall and of stocky build.
Detective Sergeant Bruce Fyfe said: “We have been carrying out enquiries in the local area and gathering CCTV footage to find out more details on this incident and the man responsible.
“We are aware that the area was quite busy at the time and there were witnesses to this incident who have not yet spoken to police. We are keen to speak to anyone who was in area of Main Street, Renton around the time of the serious assault on Saturday night as they may have witnessed something vital to this enquiry.”
