A man is in a serious condition after being stabbed in the head at a pub this evening.
Merseyside Police said they were called to the Vine Tavern on Elephant Lane in Thatto Heath, St Helens at about 8.55pm. When officers arrived the man was being treated by paramedics for stab wounds to his arms, chest and head.
It is believed two people, one armed with a knife, were involved in the attack. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and his injuries are believed to be serious, but not life threatening.

Crime Scene Investigators are carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and officers are currently making house-to-house inquiries, they will also be examining CCTV footage in a bid to identify the offenders. High visibility patrols will also be in the area to reassure the local community.
Detective Inspector Leanne Toole said: “The investigation is in its early stages and officers will be carrying out extensive inquiries in a bid to identify the offenders. I would appeal to anyone who was in the Vine Tavern, or who may have information which could help us with our inquiries to please contact us.
“I would also ask people who were in the area to check dashcam or CCTV footage just in case they may have captured something which may be vital to the case.”
