A tough-talking sheriff tore a strip off a man who showed up in court dressed in football colours.
Robert Peacock, 37, was given his marching orders for wearing both a Rangers FC tracksuit and football top at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday.
Peacock, of Barrhead, appeared for a review of his conduct before Sheriff Tom McCartney when he was quickly shown the door.
Sheriff McCartney told him: “I won’t be dealing with this case.
“I do not allow people to wear football colours in court.
“I will continue this case for two weeks.
“And I will ask that you attend for this next hearing dressed respectfully by not wearing any football colours.”
Peacock was then ushered from the dock and shown the door by court staff.
He had previously admitted placing cops in danger by having uncapped syringes and a blade on him when he was searched by officers during his arrest on March 25, 2019.
He was also found in possession of drugs, including “blue plague” Etizolam tablets, “speed” pills and “jellies.”
He pleaded guilty to charges of culpable and reckless conduct by failing to inform officers he had sharp objects, namely uncapped hypodermic syringes and a blade, stashed in his rucksack.
He admitted possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife, without reasonable excuse or lawful authority.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of Class-A Methlyamphetamine, Class-C Etizolam, Class-C Temazepam and Class C Buprenorphine, all controlled drugs, when he was arrested in Campbeltown.
He was handed a Community Payback Order comprising mandatory supervision by the local authority when he pleaded guilty at Oban Sheriff Court, however, the order was transferred to Paisley for
monitoring.
His defence agent Jim Clark said his client had adhered to the terms of the order and asked it be continued for further review.
Sheriff McCartney ordered Peacock to return to court on July 1 when his case will be considered by the court.
Previously, Peacock was handed 12 months behind bars after he was caught with a huge stash of amphetamine at his home in Barrhead.
