Man charged with murder after body found in South Hobart

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

Tasmania Police have charged a 40-year-old man with murder after the death of a man in South Hobart on Thursday morning.

Police and emergency crews attended the Livingston Street address about 8:00am AEDT, and located the body of the 40-year-old victim.

Neighbour Wayne Phillips, who lives at the same unit block as the man in custody, said he heard about the death on the radio.

"I didn't know him [the deceased], but it sort of makes you a bit nervy," he said.

He said he had lived in the unit block for about 20 years.

"It's not too bad, you get the odd ups and downs like anywhere though."

The 40-year-old man will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Friday.

Police have called for anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
