Man in Little Stoke Park, Bristol, had 'no criminal intent' when approaching walkers

Police have found no criminal intent after reports of a man making dog walkers "uncomfortable" in Little Stoke Park and nearby areas.

Last week an Avon and Somerset police spokeswoman revealed the neighbourhood team had received four reports of a man approaching and talking to dog walkers in Little Stoke and Bradley Stoke.

She said at the time: "He follows the dog walker before approaching and starting to talk to them.

"While there's no evidence of any offences being committed, his behaviour makes people feel uncomfortable. We understand their concerns and are stepping up patrols in the Little Stoke Lane area."

Now the force says officers have identified the man.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Stephen Ives said: "People did the right thing by reporting their concerns to us but we're satisfied there is no criminal intent to his approaches.

"This is a vulnerable elderly man who lives alone and we'll be speaking to our partners to make sure he has appropriate support in place."
