A man in his 30s is in a critical condition after an incident at WhiteWater World on the Gold Coast.
Paramedics were called to the theme park, which is attached to Dreamworld, at around 2pm on Friday to assist with a “post-immersion incident” in which a man was rescued from the water of the Cave of Waves attraction, which is a 50-metre-long wave pool.
The man was treated at the scene before being rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital where he is in a life-threatening condition.
“Our highly trained lifeguards responded immediately, and Queensland Ambulance Service attended the scene promptly,” a statement from WhiteWater World said.
“The safety and wellbeing of our guests and team members is our highest priority, and we are assisting emergency services as required.”

WhiteWater World has been a prominent part of the Gold Coast’s tourism landscape since it first opened its gates on 8 December 2006.
Developed by Macquarie Leisure (later Ardent Leisure, now Coast Entertainment Holdings), the $56 million project was designed to complement the adjacent Dreamworld theme park (the home of Big Brother) and provide a distinctive Australian beach‑culture themed experience for families and thrill‑seekers alike.
It’s known for attractions including Australian firsts like The Rip and Super Tubes Hydrocoaster, and a world first in The BRO, alongside Cave of Waves and Wiggle Bay.
More to come.
