Man in jetpack flies across Sydney Harbour

An Australian inventor in a jetpack flew across Sydney Harbour in front of the Opera House while performing spins over the water.

David Mayman, chief executive of JetPack Aviation, delighted his family and onlookers with his performance, almost 10 years after he crashed into the harbour with an earlier version of his jetpack, the JP9.

According to Mr Mayman, the JP10, the current version of his invention, can fly at more than 250kph and up to 5km.

He told local media that he had always been “completely obsessed” with creating a jet pack and was already working on a “flying motorcycle”.

“I can put you on the motorcycle, you press go and it comes into a hover,” the inventor explained. “It’ll do 350kph and is completely stabilised.”

In 2015 Mr Mayman flew the JP9 around the Statue of Liberty in New York.
