Man in hospital with 'serious' injuries after two lorries collide in Scots horror crash near power station

A man is in hospital after a horror crash between two lorries on a busy Scots road.

We told yesterday about the pile up between the two HGVs on the A1 near Thorntonloch yesterday morning.

Around 10.10am on Thursday, 26 August, both vehicles were travelling north on the A1, around half a mile north of Torness Power Station, when they collided as they approached temporary roadworks.

Emergency crews raced to the scene and a 22-year-old man was taken to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious leg injuries.

As a result of the incident, bitumen spilled onto the road and therefore it had to be closed for over 12 hours for it to be cleared.

Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick has urged anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “We are appealing for anyone who was driving in this area yesterday morning who may have seen the vehicles involved, or has dash-cam footage that can help us.

“A man has been seriously injured and it is vital we find out exactly what caused this crash.”

"Anyone with any information should contact Police via 101, quoting incident number 0917 of Thursday, 26 August, 2021.
