Man in hospital with 'serious injuries' after horror attack near Scots underpass

A man has been hospitalised with 'serious injuries' after being attacked near an underpass in a Scots town.

The 49-year-old was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow after being assaulted at the underpass on Burnhill Street in Rutherglen.

Medics gave him treatment to serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are keen to identify a man described as being around 18 to 30-years-old and wearing a blue tracksuit in connection with the incident.

He was last seen running from the area in the direction of the underpass to Chapel Street.

Detective Constable Ashley Hind of CID at Cambuslang Police Station said: "Our enquiries are ongoing and we would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.

"We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV from the area.

"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 2274 of 13 May, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
