Man in hospital with serious injuries after crash on busy Salford A road

A driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on a busy road in Salford.

A 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries during the collision on Cadishead Way (A57) on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the busy A road at 3.20pm following reports of a road traffic collision.

The injured man was rushed to hospital where he remains tonight.

Greater Manchester Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, which is believed to have involved a van and a HGV.

Cadishead Way has been closed in both directions for around six hours while accident investigators work at the scene.

The closure is between the B5320 Liverpool Road and the B5471 Brinell Drive.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 15.20pm to a report of a collision between two vehicles.

"A 22-year-old male has been taken to hospital with serious injuries."

Any witnesses or anyone with information about the incident should call GMP on 101, quoting incident number 1777 of August 8. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
