Man in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by motorbike in Eccles

A man is in a serious condition after being hit by a motorbike in Salford.

Emergency services were called to the junction of New Lane and Worsley Road in Eccles at around 6.45am on Saturday morning following reports of a collision between a motorcyclist and a man.

In a statement, GMP said the man - who is 33 years old - suffered serious injuries in the crash. He remains in hospital.

Worsley Road was shut in both directions between Sutherland Street and Hall Bank for several hours while investigation work was carried out.

Closures were also in place around New Lane, with motorists urged to avoid the area.

The scene reopened just before 11am.

GMP said: "At around 6.45am on Saturday, police were called to a report that motorcyclist had collided with a man on New Lane, Worsley Road, Eccles.

"The 33-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries."
