Man in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries after Fishburn crash

A man suffered potentially life-changing injuries after a crash in County Durham.

The one-vehicle collision happened shortly after 6.05pm on Thursday on Butterwick Road, in Fishburn.

A black Ford Fiesta was travelling south when it left the road and collided with a tree.

The passenger of the vehicle suffered potentially life-changing injuries and was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.

The driver was left seriously injured and was taken to North Tees Hospital for further treatment.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has information that could help with their investigation to come forward.

Officers have revealed they would like to trace a small white 4x4, possibly a Nissan Juke, and a grey car, possibly a Volkswagen Golf, which drove past the collision.

Those who are able to help are urged to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 315 of July 2.
