Man in hospital in serious condition after ‘fight’ breaks out on bus near Manchester Apollo

A man is in hospital in a serious condition after a ‘fight’ on a bus close to Manchester Apollo.

Police were called to reports of a fight on a bus on Ardwick Green South on Monday afternoon (December 21).

When officers arrived they found a 31-year-old man seriously injured.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition, Greater Manchester Police said.

A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 20 assault.

He remains in custody for questioning today.

A GMP spokesman said: “Police were called at around 5.45pm to reports of a fight on a bus on Ardwick Green South, Manchester.

“A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 20 assault. He remains in custody for questioning.

“The victim - a 31-year-old man - remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

“Initial enquiries suggest the incident happened following a confrontation.”
