A man was taken to hospital last night after being reportedly shot in the leg.
Police say at around 11pm on Wednesday, three masked men came to the door of a house in the Magowan Park area of Creggan in Derry.
The male, aged in his thirties, was then shot in the leg and is currently in hospital being treated for his injuries.
Detective Sergeant McLaughlin said: "This has all the hall-marks of a paramilitary-style shooting. It was a planned, vicious and brutal attack, which is completely unacceptable in today's society.
"I am appealing to anyone with information that might assist our investigation to get in touch on 101, quoting reference 2001 of 18/03/20."
