Man in hospital after Sydney chainsaw attack

Two men in their 20s have been charged and another remains at large after they allegedly attacked a 63-year-old man with a chainsaw in Sydney's inner-west.

New South Wales Police said three men entered the Annandale home of a 63-year-old yesterday through an open front door about 5:30pm.

Police said the man and his wife asked the men what they were doing, before there was a scuffle and the group was chased out.

The altercation spilled out onto Albion Lane, where one of the men allegedly grabbed an electric chainsaw — which was not plugged in — and assaulted the man, cutting his head.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and treated for a cut.

About 6:00pm police from Leichhardt located two of the men in a nearby hotel.

The two men have been charged with several assault-related offences and appeared at Newtown Local Court today.

Police are looking for a third man.
