Man in hospital after Metrolink station stabbing and three youths have been arrested

A man in hospital with 'slash injuries' after a stabbing at a Metrolink stop in Bury.

A large cordon was in place around the Radcliffe tram station on Spring Lane after the incident last night.

Police said they were called to a report of 'men with weapons and a possible stabbing'.

One man was taken to hospital from the scene with slash wounds.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Three youths were arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.

They remain in custody to be quizzed by detectives.

A large area around the tram stop was taped off by police after the incident last night.

Forensic officers were pictured carrying out investigation work at the scene.

One witness said: "There's a cordon outside the entrance to the tram stop. It's about 15m wide.

"Three police cars are outside stopping cars getting into the car park that's closest to the tram stop.

"CSI have just turned up as well."

Metrolink said in a tweet that services could not stop at Radcliffe tram stop.

In a statement, a spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 6.45pm on Sunday 10 th October 2021 police were called to a report of males with weapons and a possible stabbing at the Metrolink Stop on Spring Lane in Radcliffe.

"Officers have attended and one man has been taken to hospital with slash injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

"Three juveniles have been detained on suspicion of section 18 assault and remain in custody for questioning."
