Man in hospital after medical emergency onboard Metrolink tram

A man was taken to hospital after suffering a medical emergency onboard a Metrolink tram.

Emergency services were called to Cornbrook tram station following the incident at around 1.35pm today on Thursday (August 12).

A spokesman for Metrolink confirmed a man had fallen ill while travelling on a tram.

A witness, who was onboard the carriage at the time, praised the “amazing” doctor, paramedics and staff who rushed to the scene.

The incident caused Metrolink service delays across several lines.

In a statement, Metrolink said: “There was a medical emergency onboard a Metrolink vehicle at approximately 13:35, paramedics were quickly on the scene and the person was taken to hospital by ambulance.”

A spokesman for NWAS said: “We responded to a medical emergency at Cornbrook Metrolink Station following a 999 call at 13.35.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene within four minutes. A man has been transported to hospital.”
