Man rushed to hospital following flat fire in Hamilton

A man was rushed to hospital after a flat blaze in Hamilton this afternoon.

Police, the fire service and paramedics scrambled to the Eddlewood area at around 1:40pm and are currently at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police and emergency services were called to a report of a fire at Craigburn Street at 1.40pm today.

"One man was taken to hospital for treatment. No further details on his injuries are available at this time.

"Enquiries are continuing."

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 1.38pm on Wednesday, March 27 to reports of a building fire in Hamilton.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire engines to the town’s Craigburn Street, where firefighters discovered the fire had extinguished prior to their arrival.

“Crews currently remain on the scene working to assist their emergency service partners.”
