A man is fighting for life in hospital after a brutal alleged machete attack on a Scots street.
Cops found the 27-year-old seriously injured on Castlehill Avenue, Port Glasgow between 6am and 7am on Sunday.
He was raced to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow to be treated for his injuries where is still is currently.
The force are treating the incident as attempted murder and have called for anyone with information to come forward.
It has been reported that the victim has had to have emergency surgery after the suspected blade attack.
Detective Sergeant Jonathan MacKinnon of Greenock Police Office urged anyone with information to speak to police.
He said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the attempted murder of a 27 year-old man in Castlehill Avenue, Port Glasgow between 6am and 7am on Sunday, 28 March.
"The injured man is being treated at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for his injuries.
“Detectives are continuing their enquiries in the area to establish the exact circumstances and are asking anyone with information that will assist their investigation to contact them through 101 quoting reference number 0708 of 28 March.
"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
