Man in hospital after brawl in Govanhill as cops seal off blood-spattered street

A man has been taken to hospital after being assaulted in the street on the southside of Glasgow .

The incident took place near St Bride's primary in the Govanhill area of the city on Monday afternoon.

Police cordoned off a blood-spattered area of Allison Street as they carried out enquiries into the attack.

A shopkeeper working in a convenience store opposite the scene said the victim remained conscious while waiting on medics to arrive.

He said: "The guy was covered in blood but he was drinking from a bottle and still talking away while waiting on the ambulance. It did take quite a long time to arrive though."

Police Scotland were unable to comment when approached by the Record.
