Man in hospital after being struck by taxi in Manchester city centre

A man is in hospital after he was struck by a taxi in the city centre.

Police were called to reports of a collision on Upper Brook Street in the early hours of Friday morning (December 20).

The victim was taken to hospital following the incident.

A police spokesman said his injuries are not believe to be life-threatening.

The taxi driver has spoken with officers.

Upper Brook Street, at the junction with Grosvenor Street and Booth Street East, was sealed off with police tape from 3.30am this morning.

Police officers could be seen standing guard outside the cordon.

The road has since re-opened.

There are no reports of any arrests.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at around 3.25am this morning to reports a taxi had collided with a pedestrian on Upper Brook Street, Manchester.

"A 32-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that aren’t believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"The driver has spoken to officers and no arrests have been made."
