Man in hospital after being hit by car then stabbed in the street in Stockport

A man was taken to hospital after being hit by a car then stabbed in the street in Stockport.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, was seriously injured in the attack on Chatham Street in Edgeley at around 6.10pm on Tuesday (September 29).

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition, police said.

Officers believe he was initially hit by a car before the driver stabbed him.

No arrests have been made and enquiries remain ongoing.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called at 6.10pm on Tuesday 29 September to reports of a man in his 40s being stabbed on Chatham Street in Stockport.

"Initial enquiries suggest that the man was stabbed after being hit by a car driven by the offender.

"The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains there in a stable condition.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
