Man in hospital after being hit by car on busy route in Clevedon

A man was taken to hospital after being hit by a car on Clevedon’s busy ring road.

Emergency crews were called to Southern Way at just before 5pm yesterday (Thursday, December 10) after reports a male pedestrian had collided with a car.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The road, a busy route around the seaside town, was closed for just over an hour while emergency crews dealt with the incident.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We received a call from the ambulance service yesterday evening (Thursday 10 December) at about 4.50pm reporting a collision on Southern Way, Clevedon involving a car and a pedestrian.

“A male pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening.

“The road was temporarily closed while emergency services attended the scene and was reopened to traffic shortly after 6pm.”

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call them on 101 and quote log number 0691 of December 10.
