Man in hospital after assault on busy Newton Mearns road

A man is in hospital after an assault took place today on a busy road in Newton Mearns.

Police officers attended the scene of an assault at 12:30pm today (May 2) on Crookfur road, after a man was reported to be injured.

Body of woman, 47, found in Partick flat 

The 36-year-old- was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated for his injuries, though they are not thought to be life threatening.

Traffic Scotland also tweeted to confirm that part of Crookfur Road was closed to vehicles due to an incident.

The southbound off-slip at junction four of the M77 specifically was shut down, with a tweet at 2PM saying it would remain shut for "some time".

Commenting on the incident, a spokesperson for Police Scotland spoke to the Daily Record.

They said: "Police officers were called today at 12.30pm to Crookfur road in Newton Mearns to reports of a man injured officers remain at the scene.

"A 36-year-old man was assaulted and taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"His injuries are not thought to be life threatening."
