Police are investigating after an 'altercation' outside a Belfast city centre fast food restaurant on Monday night.

The reported incident at Castle Place took place at around 5.50pm after a security staff member asked a customer to leave the premises, the PSNI says.

Video footage of the reported altercation has been shared across social media platforms.

A PSNI spokesperson told Belfast Live: "A man aged in his 20’s was arrested following the incident, then subsequently released on bail, and remains in hospital on Tuesday receiving treatment for a head injury.

"Further enquiries are being conducted into the matter and officers would ask anyone with any information which could assist them to contact police at Lisburn Road on 101 quoting reference number 1460 23/11/20.

"A report can also be submitted online using the non-emergency reporting form via  http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at  http://crimestoppers-uk.org/."

Meanwhile, police are also appealing for information following the report of an aggravated burglary at a property in the Radnor Street area of Belfast on Monday.

At approximately 11.10pm, officers received a report that a man and woman had been assaulted in their home.

Any information related to this incident should be passed onto police at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 1978 32/11/2020.
