Man in hospital after air ambulance helicopter lands at scene of motorbike crash near Ammanford

A man has been taken to hospital after a motorbike crash in west Wales. 

The bike crashed on Friday afternoon on a single track rural road near Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen, five miles east of Ammanford .

The motorbike was being ridden by a man and a woman, both of whom suffered injuries in the crash.

A Wales Air Ambulance landed among trees next to the crash site, while police officers and firefighters were already in attendance. 

The man, who was driving the bike, was taken to Glangwili Hospital in a road ambulance while the female passenger was treated at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to a road traffic collision near Ammanford at 12.38pm on Friday afternoon.

“We sent one fire crew from Ammanford to the scene and firefighters assisted with first aid.

“A male motorcyclist suffered trauma to his leg and was conveyed to hospital.

“A female was also involved and she received first aid at the scene.”

The full extent of the man's injuries are not known but they are not thought to be life-threatening.
