Man in his mid-30s dead following tragic crash at Quigley's Point, Co Donegal

A man in his mid-30s has died in an early-morning crash in Co Donegal.

The tragic collision occurred in Inishowen on the main Muff and Quigley's Point road in the early hours of Monday morning.

Emergency services and the Coast Guard attended the scene where the male driver was pronounced dead.

His body was taken to the mortuary at Letterkenny University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The Muff/Moville R238 road is currently closed for an examination and it is expected to re-open later this afternoon.

A full investigation into the cause of the crash has begun.

A garda spokesperson said: "The Muff/Moville road (R238) is currently closed for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators with local diversions in place, and is expected to re-open later this afternoon.

"Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding this incident, particularly any road users with camera footage who were travelling the Muff/Moville road between 3.00am and 4.30am on 3rd February 2020, to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
