Man in his 90s taken to hospital after crash between car and bus

An man in his 90s has been taken to hospital after a crash between a car and a bus in Trafford.

Railway Street in Altrincham town centre has been taped off in both directions following the smash.

The road has been closed between Regent Road and Lloyd Street.

The crash happened at around 9.30am this morning (Monday).

Police said the patient was not believed to have suffered serious injuries.

The road remained closed at 11am due to vehicle recovery, a GMP spokeswoman said.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a collision involving a car and a bus.

"We sent one ambulance to the scene. A male patient in his 90s was taken to hospital."

TfGM tweeted about the incident, urging people to use an alternative route.

The post said: "Road traffic collision in Altrincham town centre.

"Railway Street is closed in both directions between Regent Road and Lloyd Street. Use an alternative route.

A GMP spokesman said: "At around 9.30am this morning we were called to reports of a collision on Railway Street, Altrincham.

"Officers are in attendance."
