Man in his 70s taken to hospital after being hit by bus

A man in his 70s has been taken to hospital after being hit by a bus this afternoon.

Merseyside Police confirmed they were called to Queens Square Bus Station at around 3.50pm over reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a bus. A man, believed to be in his 70s, was taken to hospital as a result.

He suffered minor injuries but was taken to hospital due to a pre-existing heart condition. One patrol car is believed to be at the station as services resume following the incident.

Merseytravel posted on Twitter just after 4pm about the disruption. The tweet said: "Due to an incident, services using Queen Sq and surrounding area may be subject to delay and diversion."
