A man has been taken to hospital with serious facial injuries after he was punched and kicked unconscious during an assault in Co Down.
Police are appealing for information following the incident which took place at around 10.45pm on Sunday, October 24, at the junction of Mourne Esplanade and Manse Road, Kilkeel.
It was reported that a man in his 60s was attacked by a male, who punched and kicked him a number of times, knocking him unconscious.
The victim received treatment at the scene and was later taken to hospital with serious facial and head injuries.
Police are asking anyone who may have any information regarding the incident to contact them.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives are appealing for information following the report of an assault in Kilkeel on Sunday October 24.
"It was reported that a man, aged in his 60s, was attacked by a male at the junction of Mourne Esplanade and Manse Road at around 10.45pm on Sunday night. The man was punched and kicked a number of times knocking him unconscious. He received first aid at the scene and was later taken to hospital with serious facial and head injuries and is continuing to receive treatment at this time.
