Man in his 60s rushed to hospital with serious injuries after apartment fire in South Dublin

A man in his 60s has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after an apartment fire in South Dublin.

Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene of the blaze that had broken out in a flat at Killininny Court in Firhouse.

The man was saved but taken to Tallaght University Hospital in a serious condition.

Gardai said they do not suspect foul play and the scene has been sealed off for technical examination.

Gardai told Dublin Live: "Shortly after 4pm Gardaí at Rathfarnham were alerted following a fire in an apartment at Killininny Court, Firhouse.

"A man, understood to be in his 60s, seriously injured in the fire was taken from the scene by ambulance to Tallaght University Hospital.

"The scene is preserved for examination.

"Foul play is not currently suspected. Enquires are ongoing."
