Man in his 60s pronounced dead in Crook crash which left another driver seriously injured

A driver in his 60s died in a crash in County Durham which left another man seriously injured.

Officers were called to a collision on Stockley Lane, Crook, just after 7.30pm on Thursday, which involved a Citroen Saxo, Renault Megane and Mini Cooper. Sadly, the driver of the Citroen, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Renault, a man in his 20s, was seriously injured and taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where he remains in a stable condition.

The driver of the Mini is believed to have been unharmed. The road was closed for several hours while investigators were on the scene, reopening again at 6am on Friday morning.
