Man in his 60s dies while working on his car in Wythenshawe after 'equipment failure'

A man has died after being fatally injured whilst working on his car in Wythenshawe.

The tragedy happened on Chesham Avenue this evening when a man in his 60s was carrying out repairs on his vehicle.

It is understood a jack may have given way while he worked on the vehicle.

Police have confirmed he was injured after an "equipment failure."

Emergency services raced to the scene at 5.15pm this evening but he could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A private ambulance was spotted outside the property in the Poundswick area of Wythenshawe this evening.

His next of kin have been informed and his family are being supported by specialist officers.

Police have already ruled out any foul play or third party invovlement.

A GMP spokesman said: "At around 5:15pm this evening police and paramedics were called to Chesham Avenue in Wythenshawe.

"A man was working on his own car when the equipment failed and unfortunately he has died at the scene.

"There are no suspicious circumstances."
